The Shame Blame Game

26 months ago our world drastically changed and it’s been heading downhill faster and faster toward destruction and picking up speed ever since. Make no mistake, dear brothers and sister in Jesus, we must have “eyes to see and ears to hear” the Father in order to navigate the rest of our journey here on earth.  This place is not our home.  Remember that. Without a keen sense of spiritual sight and discernment, life will continue to crumble faster than the U.S. inflation rate and the demise of our 401K’s.

Remember what Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 13:9-11?

“Whoever has ears, let them hear.”  The disciples came to him and asked,

“Why do you speak to the people in parables?”  He replied“Because the

knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you,

but not to them.”

When March of 2020 hit, death and shame were unleashed on this world by the Destroyer, the devil, like never before.  Not only did we have a pandemic of medical proportions, but we also had, and continue to have, a pandemic of emotional proportions like:

  • Panic

  • Fear

  • Worry

  • Anxiety

  • Isolation

What’s at the root of all of this?  One word:  Shame.  It’s Satan’s greater tool of destruction.  Why?  Because when shame hits a person, we have no idea who the real enemy is, and he knows it.  If he can get us overwhelmed with shame, he knows one of two things will happen:

  1. We will collapse under it and shrink back, or medicate ourselves into oblivion and eventually death wins, which is his goal.

Case in point: If you Google “pandemic effects on mental health,” you will find a 25% increase (or more) in the rise of depression, anxiety, addiction and suicide since COVID hit. It’s ugly and sad at the same time.

Or . . .

2.   We will fight whomever and whatever we THINK we see and hear to be the enemy and BLAME this feeling of shame on everything and everyone else.

Case in point:  The mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX.   A young, isolated and mentally ill young man explodes in rage against the overwhelming feelings of shame he experienced from those around him.  “The Shame Blame Game” is now running rampant on Uvalde Law Enforcement, the lack of adequate gun control legislation, and other issues.

The Shame Blame Game, with Lucifer as your game-show host, has been around since Genesis 3 when he first introduced this destructive behavior.   When God asked Adam if he ate of the fruit, Adam . . . feeling SHAME . . . did what?  He BLAMED his wife!  Why?  He lost his identity in WHO HE WAS.  That’s what shame does, so in order to justify our behavior, we have to blame someone or something.  Meanwhile, Satan smiles and moves on to his next prey, seeking whom he may devour.

People of God! . . . Beloved Sons and Daughters! . . . let him/her who has eyes to see and ears to hear, hear this:

Shame loses EVERY time when we remember WHO we are!

Shame wants to blame.  Always.  Every time.  We are called to higher ground and to a deep love for the Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit.  The battle of this age is against shame and we win the daily battles by: Stopping and pausing and asking ourselves:

“What’s going in in my heart?”

“Why am I feeling this way?”

“Where is it coming from?” (i.e. a trigger from a past event and/or unresolved trauma)

“What is the lie I am believing to be true?” (Get this book!)

“What do I know to be true?” (I am a Beloved Son who is deeply loved by the Father - Colossians 3:12)

“Who is the REAL enemy of what I am feeling?” ANSWER: Shame.

Here’s the key to winning the battle of shame and avoiding “The Shame Blame Game:”

“What do I need to do about this overwhelming feeling of shame?”

ANSWER: You send it right back where it came from and where it belongs . . . Hell.

You have the power inside you to declare Truth and break off lies and tell Satan where he can go with his minions and tactics.  You do it with the power of the Holy Spirit inside you and in a voice that has authority.  Do you know why?  Because as Beloved Sons and Daughters we ALL have that authority inside us because it’s WHO WE ARE! Let’s choose to believe this and live from our true identity!

Men of God!: It’s time we fight the real enemy of shame and stop blaming our wives, kids, bosses, political parties we don’t agree with, and everything else under the sun!

If you’re needing help on getting into a solid rhythm of identifying shame when it hits, or if you have triggers from the past that keep filling your heart with shame, book time with me and let’s get you spiritually healthy.

Shame is toxic.

It will sit in your heart for decades and it WILL destroy you.  Why let that happen?  We need each other.  Ask for help.  That’s what we do as Beloved Sons of the King!
